On the morning of September 21, 2006 Leigh gave birth to a beautiful little red dun colt, unfortunately Leigh passed away later that day due to complications.

AQHA Sorrel Mare; Great Granddaughter of Leo Tag & Cutter Bill; high percentage of Leo breeding.

Leigh was with TRS for a short time, we bought her when she was already a seasoned mare.  When we purchased her she was not a very slightly mare.  She had been beat up by the other horses at the sale and had had an accident in the trailer on the way to the sale and scraped the hide off of her forehead.  Her hair was falling off of her body, due to the stress in changing homes.  Soon after feeding her plenty of Pleasure feed she started to shine.  It was soon time for her to be with Joe.  Leigh was an older mare that most likely had a foal every year of her breeding life.  She was slanted in the back end and it was going to be tough to get her to take.  She didn’t take the first two times with Joe.  Then in October 2005 we tried things a little different.  We cleaned her and Joe up real good, let them be together for a few hours, and cleaned her up again.  Then we kept her clean for about a month.

During her pregnancy she stayed in the field with her pals, Baby & Rojo.  Rojo loved Leigh just as much as Joe did.  She looked nearly identical to a mare he once lived with when he was with his prior owner.  We went thru several months not knowing if she was even pregnant, then it was July and she was showing.  I felt her every day, the foal didn’t move around much.  About the end of August we started wondering if the foal was still alive, it had not moved in a long while.

Then the evening of Wednesday, September 20, 2006 we put Leigh up to get ready to have her foal.  When we got up the next morning and looked out the window and there he was, walking around the pen.  Leigh was not doing well, she was lying down.  She was a good mother, every minute she could stand she would have that baby nursing.  She passed away later that day.

Promise to Lee
